Gangtok, Darjeeling and Kalimpong Tour Itinerary

Day 1:

IXB to Kalimpong (75 km in 2 hrs)

Our representative will warmly welcome you on arrival and assist you to the vehicle for the further journey.
There after you will depart towards your dream destinations. Throughout your journey, you can enjoy the versatility in climate. Pleasant weather will win your heart completely. On the way, you will pass through Mahananda Wild life Sanctuary and more this journey offers magnificent views of the mountains, valleys and village life, the forest, waterfalls and hills covered with tea gardens.
After reaching at Kalimpong, we assist you to check in at hotel and take rest. We suggest you to sleep early for next day tour. Overnight stay at Kalimpong.

Day 2:

Half Day Kalimpong City Tour visit to 5 points

After Breakfast enjoy Kalimpong city tour. Visit Durpin Dara View Point, Army Golf Course, Graham’s Home, Deolo View Point and Pine View orchid nursery.
Kalimpong to Gangtok, 80kms in 2.5hrs
Check out from Kalimpong and depart for Gangtok (Alt 5550Ft / 1675M). Enjoy the view of River Teesta on the way. After arrival check in at Hotel. Free evening for personal activities. Overnight stay at Gangtok.

Day 3:

Gangtok to Tsomgo Lake with Baba Mandir Excursion – 52kms in 3hrs - One way (Timing: 7.30AM to 2.30PM)

You need to get up early, get fresh and have heavy breakfast till 7.30am. We drive you to Tsomgo Lake (Alt 12000ft/3600M), a high altitude alpine lake close to Indo-China Border. The 1 km long and 15m deep lake is considered sacred to the local people. The pure clear water remains frozen during winter. Enjoy playing in snow and Yak Ride. There is a Ropeway running near Lake to enjoy the Ariel view of lake and its surroundings mountain. Proceed further to Legendary Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir (“Hero of Nathula” An Indian soldiers who was awarded the Maha Vir Chakra medal for his bravery and known for doing his duty still after death). Back to Hotel for late Lunch.
Optional tour to Nathula Pass (Alt 14000Ft / 4200M) on China Border can also be arranged (Except Mon, Tue) for Indian Nationals only with 30 Days Advance Request at an additional cost. (Permit for Nathula Pass is subject to availability)
Take some rest. Or you may visit the famous M G Marg. It is now more like a long stretch of open mall or avenue square where locals and tourists take leisure stroll or just sit and relax on one of the many benches laid along the middle and both sides of the road to enjoy the ambience. The entire area is free of litter, smoke and vehicle. Overnight stay at Gangtok.
Documents need to carry: Original id proof (Except Pan / Aadhar Car) + 02 Photocopies + 04 Passport size photos.

Day 4:

Gangtok to Lachen, 130kms in 7hrs

Morning drive to Lachen in North Sikkim (Alt 9175Ft / 2750M). On the way visit Singhik, Chungthang Confluence. Lunch at a local restaurant on the way. Check in at local Guest house or hotel. Free evening and Overnight stay at Lachen.

Day 5:

Lachen to Thangu, Chopta Valley and Gurudongmar Lake (for Indians Only), Total 120kms in 6hrs

Early morning drive to Thangu Village (Alt 13625Ft / 4100M), a remote high altitude village of Tibetan Nomads and also proceed further to have a view of Chopta Valley (Alt 13325Ft / 4000M) to get some breathtaking view of alpine valley of frozen rivers. From Chopta Valley drive for another 30kms in 1.5hr to Gurudongmar Lake (Alt 17375Ft / 5225M) close to Tibet Border, the one of the Highest and biggest fresh water lakes in Sikkim. Back to Lachen for Lunch.
Lachen to Lachung, 50kms in 2.5hrs – Check out from Lachen and drive further to Lachung (Alt 8075Ft / 2425M) via Chungthang. En route visit Chungthang Confluence and Vimnala Water Falls. Check in at hotel. Free evening for leisure. Overnight at Lachung.

Day 6:

Lachung to Yumthang Valley Excursion 25kms in 1.5hrs (One Way)

Yumthang is popularly known as 'Valley of Flowers. It is also home to the Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary, and has over 24 species of the Rhododendron, the state flower. A vast flat greeny landscape in the lap of “The great Himalaya” covered with tree and a glacier flowing through it, is enough to make you speechless. You can see snow here in every season. You will feel like to be in Heaven.
Early morning drive to Yumthang Valley (Alt 11925Ft / 3575M), an Alpine flower valley in North Sikkim. Enjoy the scenic landscape and Hot spring.
Optional Excursion to Yumesamdong or Zero Point. A further journey of 24 km in 01 hr need for being witness of another most beautiful scenic vista. A place which will be in your mind forever. Journey may tire you but Beauty of “The Great Himalaya” reenergizes you for a lifetime memories. Return to Hotel for Lunch.After lunch, Check out from Lachung hotel and drive back to Gangtok (Alt 5550Ft / 1675M) via Chungthang. Check in at hotel by evening. Overnight stay at Gangtok.

Day 7:

Full day city tour (Timing 9.30AM to 4.30PM)

After breakfast, you visit top tourist points of Gangtok which includes Tashi view point, Ganesh Tok, Ropeway, Banjakhri Falls, Cottage Industry, Do-drul Chorten, Institute of Tibetology, Flower show and Bakthang waterfall (maximum 6 hours). Overnight stay at Gangtok.

Day 8:

Transfer to Pelling in West Sikkim via Ravangla in South Sikkim

Gangtok to Pelling, 130kms in 4.30hrs – Check out from Hotel and depart for Pelling (Alt 7175Ft / 2150M). you can visit Ravangla. Mt. Kanchendzonga can easily be seen here. Visit Buddha Park also known as Tathagata Tsel and features a 130 foots high statue of the Buddha. This sight commands beautiful views of the mountains.
After reaching at Pelling, we assist you to check in at hotel and take rest. We suggest you to sleep early for next day tour. Overnight stay at Pelling hotel.

Day 9:

Pelling City Tour (Timing: 9.30AM to 4.30PM)

Pelling is famous for its breathtaking view of the snow-capped mountains of Kanchenjunga and its ranges. It has a rich history, nature environment and local culture. Weather & scenic beauty both combined make it a Good Naturothereopist. Its pollution free environment makes you feel stress free and energetic.
Local tour in Pelling starts with visit popular tourist points – View of Darap Village and Valley, Rimbi Waterfalls, Kanchendzonga Water Falls and Khecheopalri Holy Lake. After lunch visit Pemayangtse Monastery, Helipad View Point, Rabdentse Palace Ruins. Overnight stay at Pelling.

Day 10:

Pelling to Darjeeling (75hrs 04 hrs journey) Via Namchi

After breakfast, Depart towards Darjeeling via Namchi. In Namchi, The 135 feet high statue of Guru Padamasambhava is present at Samdruptse. The Chardham covers about 7 acres of land. It consists of a huge idol of Lord Shiva which is about 87ft tall & Sai Golden Temple.
Evening is free for leisure or to roam the local area, see their culture, activities, diversity & trend and also feel the difference between city life and hill life. Overnight stay at Darjeeling hotel.

No refund is possible in case of cancellation after the tour starts.
No refund is possible if the tour is cancelled due to bad weather, civil/political disturbance, or anything beyond human control. But in such cases there will be full cooperation from the entire Northeast Tour team to make an alternate arrangement.
Important Notes about Car and Hotels in Darjeeling - Sikkim hills:
• Only in Gangtok, Sumo / Maxx vehicle is not allowed to enter in city from 08.00 am to 08.00pm. All guest hiring Sumo / Maxx, need to change vehicle from Deorali Taxi Stand / Bajra Taxi Stand to enter in city. Small cars like Wagon R / Similar are running in city, guest need to pay Rs. 150/- to 250/- approx per car to enter in the city. This cost is not included in the package. Our driver will help the guest to find /change the vehicle.
• Since your tour covers different districts and states one single vehicle for the entire trip cannot be used. Local sightseeing tours in the above places are arranged in separate car (Maruti Van or Sumo Jeep as per availability and local taxi syndicate rules). These cars are used exclusively for you and take you to all the points mentioned in the package.
• There is a restriction of vehicular movement in Gangtok Town after 8AM. If your hotel is in the town we request you to move from the hotel before 8AM for your Tsomgo Lake excursion or transfer to next destination, or else the car has to leave the hotel and have to wait at the Taxi Stand.
• The car service for the specific package is on time limit contract basis as per given schedule and not for full day. The full day availability of car can also be arranged on request with an additional cost.
• Due to high traffic restrictions in the hill stations (mainly in Darjeeling and Gangtok) the drivers remain under pressure. They cannot stop on the road while driving through the city or cannot go to certain places even if desired by the tourists. In the hill towns the car parking places are very limited. In some hotels cars are not allowed to go. We have selected such hotels where the car has a direct access, but the same can be changed following sudden traffic rule imposition in some specific time. In such cases our driver will take you to the nearest taxi stand and help you to reach hotel. We request you to kindly understand these issues and cooperate with the drivers and maintain the timings.
• People visiting to Tsomgo Lake – please note there are two Baba Mandir beyond Tsomgo Lake. We will arrange your visit to New Baba Mandir which is 8kms away from the lake. However, there is another Old Baba Mandir on the way to Jelepla Pass. Please do not get confused with the Old Baba Mandir and the New Baba Mandir. We do not arrange this in our package, as permit is not given for this sector. Sometimes, drivers take tourists on their personal capacity to Old Baba Mandir and Jelepla Pass. If you are willing to go there please negotiate the rate with the driver directly on the spot. The company is however not responsible for this extended-tour.
Important Facts for North Sikkim:
• Tourist visiting North Sikkim should note that Lachung and Lachen are located in the remote high altitude areas and are new tourist destinations. Tourism infrastructures are still developing and the people are not trained professional but are friendly and hospitable. Facilities available here are basic and should not be compared with the modern hotels and resorts in the towns and cities. The rooms are clean and have attached bath with running water. Food available here are basic but sufficient, well cooked & hygienic. Electricity and telephone connection are available but with limitations and very few hotels have any Television set. Room heaters are not used due to poor electricity and hot water bags are provided instead. Room service is not available and food is provided at the dining room.
• The long mountainous journey is very scenic but is not very smooth & comfortable. In some patches the road is bumpy and there is continuous water flow over the road. However, this is jeepable and safe.
• People suffering from chronic heart disease, breathing problem, high blood pressure should avoid visiting Gurudongmar Lake (5500M), Yumesamdong (4500M).
• Despite of all these we still suggest you to visit this region to experience the beauty of the Himalayan landscape and its contents - which is unmatched and unparallel. The issues like the accommodation, food and transport remain unnoticed once you are in the lap of the pristine nature. In-fact a visit to these places gives you a rare opportunity to closely feel and understand the beckoning and mythical Himalayas along with the tradition and culture of its people.
